On Insurgency

  1. Well done. The best way to ensure that typewriters will continue to be cherished, and that repair-persons will be available in perpetuity, is for the next generation to fall in love. And all you need to do is type on one to fall in love, if you're of a particular, peculiar character. The fact that you're a younger person makes it feel 'safe' for the youngsters to have a go at your machine; they might shrink back from touching the machine of a - ahem - more seasoned collector. (Get off my lawn!)

  2. When I tell people how I write, I usually fall in the middle. No "amazement" but no out-right cynicism either. The last time I typed in public, I was pretty much ignored...
